Catarina Santos presents her poster at FemChem 2019
Last Friday, we attended the FemChem Scientific Workshop 2019.
FemChem is the organization of women of the faculty of Technical Chemistry at TU Wien. Its mission is to improve the situation of women at the faculty of Technical Chemistry by - among many other things - increasing the scientific visibility of women within the faculty. For this reason FemChem organized a one day conference show casing specifically the research of young female researchers at TU Wien’s chemistry department.
Talks touched topics from solid state catalysts to aging of parchment in codices, show casing the broad range of research at the chemistry department.
Bettina, Alicja and Catarina from the Lendl group presented their current work.
Bettina presented part of the results on mesoporous silica. (The corresponding publication is currently in the list of most read publications in Langmuir.
Catarina Santos contributed a poster to spread the gospel of AFM-IR, that lead to interesting discussions and a few ideas for future collaborations.

In addition to the great scientific program, the organizers also put together top-notch catering (Vanessa, you are the best) in an amazing location, TU Wien’s TUtheSky. And, even better, next years workshop is already in planning.
